Training Courses

Public training courses plus advanced workshops.

Integrated Production Modelling

Using GAP, PROSPER and MBAL the course is designed to improve the engineers' understanding of the approach to building Integrated Production Models. There is a focus on the engineering, quality control and program navigation.

Advanced Integrated Production Modelling

This course is targeted to those engineers that have (i) attended the Standard IPM course previously, and (ii) have consolidated their familiarity of MBAL, PROSPER and GAP through consistent use over time.

Unconventional IPM Course

This course is intended for those that have (i) recently started working in the production domain and need to become familiar with production tools analysis, (ii) attended the course already some time ago, and require a refresher, or (iii) unrelated disciplines trying to understand the production context (e.g. accountants, project managers, etc..).

Advanced Integration Course (RESOLVE)

This Course is designed for users already familiar with the first level of Integration within IPM (GAP, PROSPER and MBAL) and wish to take the integrated production modelling approach to the next level, integrating numerical simulation reservoir models, process models, economics as well as implementing Global Optimisation and Field Management Rules within the system. This Course covers how to dynamically connect multiple applications and the opportunity that this level of integration brings at the moment of fully optimising our production system.

The Course content is covered by a series of projects with a variety of Engineering Objectives, from Field Development Planning to Daily Field Optimisation. At the end of the course, not only will the attendees be familiar with the use of RESOLVE but will also gain an understanding of how to best formulate global optimisation problems within such Platform.

Advanced Wellbore Modelling (REVEAL)

The objective for the course is to introduce advanced inflow modelling concepts to petroleum and reservoir engineers. Effects of temperature on inflow performance, with investigations on physical phenomena such as thermal fracturing will be considered, along with modelling of tight gas and tight oil wells.

PVT Workshop

The overall objective is to allow the participants to develop an approach to characterising a variety of fluids using the package. There will be practical examples characterising fluids from real data.

Advanced DOF Developer Training Course

This training course is intended for DOF ‘power users’, support engineers and in-house development engineers to learn how to configure, implement, modify and maintain DOF systems. The 10 day format allows for a comprehensive end-to-end coverage of the design and technology within the DOF system, covering the full DOF construction and deployment cycle, workflow development and advanced implementation concepts required for a deployment. Knowledge of interacting with historians and databases as well as the design of graphical interfaces will aid with understanding many parts of the course, although is not a compulsory pre-requisite.

Integrated Structural Geology – Standard Course

Normally held in either Edinburgh or Houston, our Integrated Structural Geology course using MOVE follows a fixed structure over five days. The course provides an introduction to basic structural geology theory and practice aimed at geologists and engineers. A background in structural geology is not required. The course uses practical exercises and the MOVE Software Suite as required. It is largely hands-on, introducing the theory and principles underlying the application of structural geology analysis in extractive industries such and oil & gas and mining.

Integrated Structural Geology – Advanced Course

This advanced course is intended for users who want to enhance their knowledge of integrated structural geology to assess interpretations and evaluate structural evolution of assets. Those who attend should have completed the Integrated Structural Geology – Standard Course, but this course is also aimed at those who are, through use and application, proficient in MOVE, or who are experienced structural geologists. The objective is to learn how to use MOVE to model complex structural geological processes in 2D and 3D, including fault seal analysis. Attendees will learn how to formulate and apply advanced structural geology workflows and analyses, where key economic decisions are dependent on integration of modelling results and outcomes.
